Dr. Jillian Byrd, DMD

Born and raised in the foothills of North Carolina, Dr Jillian graduated from UNC Chapel Hill in 2005.  In 2007 she earned her Masters from University of New Haven where she was part of a Cold Case Homicide Team and assistant to the Chief Forensic Odontologist for the State of Connecticut. 


In 2013 Dr Jillian graduated MUSC College of Dental Medicine.  During dental school, Dr Jillian assisted MUSC Forensic Pathology with dental identifications and gave guest lectures in Forensic Odontology.  Upon completion of dental school Dr Jillian practiced general dentistry in the Low Country for a year before attending her Fellowship in Pediatric and Community Oral Health at The Ohio State University and Nationwide Children’s Hospital.


During her Fellowship at OSU Dr Jillian worked in rural pediatric dental clinics providing oral health care to the underserved children in central Ohio.  Dr Jillian also served as adjunct dental faculty with The OSU College of Dentistry working with senior dental students to provide pediatric dental care through The Ohio Project.  At Nationwide Children’s Hospital Dr Jillian provided both comprehensive dental care to clinic patients and emergency dental care to trauma patients.


After moving back down to South Carolina, Dr Jillian works as a general dentist providing comprehensive oral health care to children of the Low Country.  


Dr Jillian is a current member of: American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, American Academy of Oral Medicine, American Dental Association, American Society of Forensic Odontology, South Carolina Dental Association, and Southeast Society of Pediatric Dentistry.

Dr. Rachel Gentz completed her undergraduate studies at Case Western Reserve University, and then dental school at Harvard School of Dental Medicine. Following dental school, she completed 2 years of post-doctorate specialty training in pediatric dentistry at The Ohio State University and Nationwide Children’s Hospital.  During residency, she also obtained a Master’s degree and completed her research thesis on pediatric dental sedation. During her specialty training, she received extensive training in pediatric preventive and restorative dental care, dental emergencies and trauma, orthodontics, dental sedation, general anesthesia, and care for children with special health care needs.


Dr. Rachel finds great satisfaction in working with children, helping them have a positive dental experience, and putting smiles on their faces!
